What are the requirement for me to get my Illinois Manager Certification?
In order to receive the Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) from the state of Illinois, the employee must take an approved 8-hour training course and pass an accredited exam. The Illinois requirement for this course was shortened from 15 hours to only 8 hours as of July 1st, 2014.
What is the Illinois law on certified managers?
The Illinois Department of Public Health requires that all food service establishments that prepare and serve food to have a certified food service manager on the premises at all times food is being handled.
How long is the Certificate good for?
5 Years.
What do I need to get on the test to pass?
75% is passing.
How do I renew my certification when the 5 years end?
In order to renew the Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) from the state of Illinois, the employee must take an approved 8 hour training course and pass an accredited exam every 5 years. The 5-hour refresher course is no longer approved. This changed July 1st, 2014.
